Finding an advisor that fits with you and your business is essential to maintaining a successful working relationship.
How do you know what the right fit is?
And how do you find it?
The most important thing to note when deciding on a Bookkeeper or Accountant for your business is that not every advisor is right for you.
And the same can be said for engaging a client. Not every client is right for us.
We spent many years taking on each and every client that came our way, and it took us a long time to realise that we weren’t serving them all the way they deserved.
It’s taken us a long time to figure out why that was and what we could do about it, and what we realised was that we could never be everything to everyone. Everybody works in different ways and it doesn’t always align.
The positive news is that we now have a way better understanding of who is right for us to work with, and better yet, which clients we can bring the most value to!
So how do you know if we’re the right fit?
First off, it’s good to know whether or not our values align. Take a look at ours here.
If our values don’t align, how are we ever going to work cohesively?
We don’t choose what client to take on based on the size or state of the business, those things can change. We choose who we want to work with based on the people. And you should too.
We want to work with people who are dependable, communicative and open.
What we ask:
Talk to us, a lot.
Keep us up to date with what is happening with you and with the business. If things are changing, let us know.
Respond to our calls and emails, don’t leave them unanswered.
Approve things on time, not last minute.
Follow processes and procedures.
Be respectful to us and remember we are still just human.
Be open and have a positive attitude.
And for our sanity, upload those receipts!
